Covid-19: postponement of social security contributions for the self-employed and impact on the VAPZ
1 min read
Because of Covid-19, the federal government took a number of measures to give the self-employed more breathing room, including a postponement of the payment of social contributions. However, a postponement of the payment of social contributions can have consequences for the tax deductibility of the premium under the VAPZ (the free supplementary pension for the self-employed). The latter is only tax deductible if all social contributions that have become due were paid in full during the current year. Our federation FVF immediately raised this issue with Assuralia, and in the meantime the insurance sector lobbied the Minister of Finance for sound solutions. Yesterday, a circular was published on Fisconet that addresses this issue. It states that a postponement of the payment of social contributions in 2020 will not affect the tax deductibility of the VAPZ premium.
