Your personal insurance and COVID-19

- Am I covered if I become infected with the coronavirus? - If you become unable to work as a result of a coronavirus infection, you are covered under your guaranteed income or disability insurance. Disability as a result of an epidemic or pandemic is in fact not excluded. - I am temporarily unemployed and am going to help as a volunteer in a care centre. Am I insured if I have an accident there? - If you yourself took out insurance that protects you against accidents in your private life, you can call on that in this case. Some care centres themselves provide accident insurance for their volunteers. Another option is that your employer, in addition to the legally required occupational accident insurance, took out cover for accidents in private life for its staff. In that case, you can claim this cover if you have an accident during your volunteer work. Conclusion: before you start as a volunteer in a care centre, it is therefore best to check with your employer and with the care centre's HR department. - Can I make a claim on my Guaranteed Income insurance if I am placed in preventive quarantine? - Anyone placed in preventive quarantine, without being ill, cannot make a claim on their Guaranteed Income insurance. Only disability as a result of an illness or accident (if provided for in the cover) is insured.
