Ambulante kosten

Outpatient medical costs insurance reimburses your staff's everyday medical costs outside a hospital stay, think of a doctor's visit, medication, physiotherapy, dental care and glasses. On top of the collective hospitalisation cover, it makes your staff's health package genuinely complete.

Who we help
Employers with salaried staff who want to offer their employees a complete health benefit, outside the hospital too.
The tax benefit
A disallowed expense for the employer, exempt from RSZ (national social security) and not taxed for the employee, net more advantageous than a cash bonus.

What is outpatient medical costs insurance?

Hospitalisation cover mainly pays the costs around a hospital admission. But the largest share of a family's medical spending falls precisely outside such an admission: the GP, the specialist, medication, a visit to the physiotherapist or the dentist. Outpatient medical costs insurance reimburses exactly those everyday costs. You introduce the policy collectively for your staff, as a complement to or alongside the hospitalisation cover.

  1. Consultations

Visits to the GP and the specialist, including the patient's own contribution.

  2. Medication

Prescribed medicines that the health insurance fund reimburses only partly or not at all.

  3. Paramedical care

Physiotherapy, speech therapy and other recognised paramedical treatments.

  4. Dental care

Dental visits, and depending on the plan also orthodontics and dentures.

  5. Optical

Glasses, lenses and contact lenses, usually with an allowance per period.

The difference with hospitalisation cover

The two policies complement each other, they do not overlap. Together they cover your staff's full care journey.

  1. Hospitalisation cover

Reimburses the costs of a hospital admission, together with the pre and post costs in the months around that admission and the outpatient costs for a fixed list of serious illnesses such as cancer or diabetes.

  2. Outpatient medical costs insurance

Reimburses the ordinary medical costs that stand apart from an admission, the ongoing care a family needs throughout the year.

Why offer it as an employer?

Supplementary health cover is one of the most valued extra-legal benefits on the market. Thanks to this insurance your company makes the difference in the constant search for new talent, and you offer an attractive salary alternative. A euro invested in your staff's health yields far more, net, than the same euro paid as a cash bonus or a salary increase.

Who is it for?

Every employer with salaried staff on the payroll. To benefit from the group advantages, such as smooth enrolment with limited medical formalities, a minimum number of employees to enrol is usually required. That minimum varies per insurer.

Our tips

  1. Combine it with the hospitalisation cover

Outpatient cover comes into its own alongside a collective hospitalisation policy. Together they cover the full care journey, from a routine visit to an admission.

  2. Consider a dental care plan

With a separate dental care section or plan you bind your staff even more closely to your company. That is how you truly make the difference.

  3. Do not make distinctions

Offer everyone on the payroll the same benefit, and be consistent about it. Even those who do not value the benefit at first, you enrol them too. That is in your interest as an employer.

  4. Let us handle the communication

We present the benefit to your staff, in Dutch, French or English, and repeat the basic principles for newcomers. A good explanation ensures your staff genuinely appreciate the benefit.

What is the taxation?

The taxation follows that of supplementary health insurance and is comparable to that of the collective hospitalisation cover. In most situations the premium is a disallowed expense for the employer. The premiums you pay are exempt from RSZ contributions, and the benefit is not taxed for the employee. This gives your staff a net advantage that is considerably higher than a cash bonus or a salary increase.

Does this fit your situation?

You will get an honest answer, even if that answer is "no".
