The investor profile: necessary to advise you in a professional and loyal manner

On 1 March 2022 we launched a new version of our profile test. With the profile test we determine the investor profile of you as a client. Are you, as a client, willing to take risks when investing your money? Or do you prefer more certainty so that you at least get your savings back? These are important questions to which we absolutely need to know the answer in order to advise you as a client in a professional and loyal manner.

A small effort, a quick result.

Quite a lot goes into subscribing to an insurance policy. But as a specialized intermediary we like to make complex matters easy. With us, you take the test entirely online. Both the client and Life Experts then receive a calculated risk profile in their mailbox. Automatically.

Developed by Life Experts.

In 2021 we launched our first online profile test. Based on the expertise gained in the process, we refined our scoring model and took the opportunity to publish a French language and English language version of the test. And there is more news...

Towards impact driven investing: from now on we also survey your preferences regarding sustainability.

What's new is that our profile test now also surveys the preference you have as a client regarding sustainability. What is this about?

To achieve the European Green Deal and the Paris Agreement, the SFDR regulation, short for Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation, was introduced. Investment funds are now required to report their positive and negative impact on Environment, Society and Governance (ESG in English, Environment, Social and Governance). Read here more about ESG.

This then results in more transparency regarding sustainability. Because it's possible that as an investor you save in fund X, but that fund for example scores very poorly on the sustainability scale, so that you would rather replace fund X with fund Y, even though Y might be more dynamic than X.

Because your risk profile might determine that you indeed have, for example, a neutral profile, but your sustainability appetite shows that you would nevertheless rather prefer a more dynamic fund that is a lot more sustainable. Or the other way around.

For that reason we have now also added a few questions to our profile test that reflect your preference regarding sustainability. This way we can from now on also measure what your attitude towards sustainability is. Are you, as a client, willing to invest with impact even if this affects the return on your investment? Or do you primarily choose return, with sustainability being less of a priority for you?

The sustainability test gives four possible profiles, which we consider together with the risk profile in order to arrive at a fund mix that fully matches your overall profile as a client.

"Where the magic happens" ... from score to concrete fund selection.

This profile test is only one part of the story. Alongside this, Life Experts also has an internal screening of funds in which we evaluate all funds from our insurers. First, funds are listed with all their characteristics. Then they are objectively evaluated and retained, or not, by our team of experts. The funds that were selected are then included in an investment mix per insurer, per fiscal regime and per investment profile. This Herculean effort potentially delivers enormous added value for you as a client. But we'll cover this in a future blog post.
