Update: digital mandate now possible for MyPension!

2 min read

On MyPension, you have been able to consult your personal file for the statutory and supplementary pension for many years now. Naturally, access to this information is strongly secured and reserved for you personally. Since this week, it has become possible to grant a mandate on your MyPension file. In plain language, this means that you can give someone else access to your online pension file. You can create a mandate for someone via 'My mandates' on mypension.be.

Life Experts has for some time been requesting to be able to obtain this information on behalf of its clients as part of our duty of care as an insurance intermediary. In this article from August 2021, we already wrote: "Could we, as intermediaries, and I am referring to the situation with the RIZIV (the national health and disability insurance institute) contracts for medical professions") receive a power of attorney from our clients to consult their MyPension data? So that we can properly exercise our duty of care."

We are therefore enthusiastic about this update.

What is the benefit for you as a client?

As part of the annual tax review of the IPT (an individual pension commitment funded by your company) for self-employed directors, we need a lot of information from you. The data we request for this purpose are, first, the MyPension file for supplementary pension, then the estimate of the projected statutory pension, and finally a detail of the career from the MyCareer website. It is a challenge for our team every year to receive this information correctly, completely, and on time for each client. However, this is quite important, since the accuracy of the advice we give you depends on it to a large extent.

In other words: granting a mandate could save you valuable time, and guarantee even better advice.

Granting a mandate is possible from now on. We are going to try this out further, but it looks like the procedure for giving and receiving a mandate is the same as for the RIZIV contracts for medical care providers. And we at Life Experts naturally already have the necessary experience with that. Life Experts is further investigating whether and how it could apply these mandates for you in practice. We will keep you informed during the course of 2023.
