Midwives now also gain access to the many benefits of RIZIV and VAPLZ contracts

An adjustment clause has recently been added to the national agreement between midwives and health insurance funds.

The most crucial change is therefore that both self-employed and salaried midwives, from premium year 2023, also qualify for a social status.

As a result, you can take out a RIZIV contract (also called a "VAPZ medical profession" contract; VAPZ stands for the free supplementary pension for the self-employed), which allows you to optimize your pension in a tax-efficient way.

For the year 2023 (application in 2024), this concerns an amount of € 593,44.

To start a RIZIV contract, you must, as a midwife,

- Be conventioned - Perform a minimum of 150 treatments or 2.250 V-values - Have an active RIZIV contract. Life Experts can arrange this last point. - Submit your application online via ProGezondheid (formerly MyRiziv).

RIZIV will then ensure that the contribution is paid into this RIZIV contract.

All of this will be visible on the ProGezondheid portal, where we as Life Experts can also verify that the premium is indeed paid, and into the right contract of course.

In addition, salaried, conventioned midwives can also take out a VAPLZ (the free supplementary pension for a salaried healthcare provider). Here too, Life Experts, as an independent expert, can find the best product for you.
